What is Implant Dentistry?

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root replacement that is used to replace missing teeth.
The loss of teeth can be inconvenient, result in recurring pain and discomfort and can generally disrupt daily living. For those with missing teeth, dental implants can bring back the joy of simple activities such as eating and chewing food with ease and comfort.
As part of advancements in dental technology, technique and materials over the years, Dental Implants were invented for the purpose of replacing missing teeth. They are basically root-like posts made of titanium which are safely inserted into the jawbone. They act as the new foundation on which crowns, bridges or dentures can be attached, making it possible to replace one or several missing teeth, or replace an entire row of teeth in the upper or lower jaw.
